Pontiac Guard Takes Plea Deal for Beating

One of three guards at the Pontiac Correctional Center, charged with official misconduct and battery for beating an inmate in February, has taken a plea deal.  31 year old James Fike of Bloomington, 45 year old Jason Cremer of Odell and 21 year old Giovanni Rodriquez of Normal allegedly beat a man doing time for criminal sexual abuse.  Fike pleaded guilty to the battery charge and prosecutors dropped the felony misconduct charge.  He was sentenced to 88 days in the Livingston county lockup and one year probation. The other two are still awaiting trial.
