There are now 8 cases of the Covid19 virus in Kankakee County. The most recent a man in this 80’s and a woman in her 50’s. And the numbers are expected to rise. Kankakee County Health Department Director John Bevis says you can expect that number to go up simply because more testing kits have become available. Bevis say staying at home and social distancing is the best way to keep from spreading the virus. Overall Illinois has recorded 1,865 positive tests and 19 deaths.
Meanwhile, another county in our region that had so far escaped virus has its first case now. Jasper County, Indiana health officials reported their initial case of Covid-19 today. No information about the victim was released. Neighboring Newton County has not yet reported any cases.
