Watseka police arrest man for attempted bank robbery

Watseka Police report the arrest of a 36-year-old man on attempted bank robbery charges after he allegedly tried to steal money for an ATM. According to reports, officers were called to the bank on East Walnut just after 6:30 Wednesday morning when bank officials reported someone had tried to break into their ATM to take the money inside. Police were able to get a photo of the man from the ATM’s camera and yesterday officers spotted a man fitting the description of the alleged attempted thief. Officers picked up 36-year-old Daniel J. White of Watseka who, police say, confessed to the crime. White was taken to the Iroquois County Jail charged with criminal damage to property and attempted bank robbery. He was also found to be wanted on a kidnapping warrant out of Lake County Indiana.
